- Bring the water to the boil and add the lard stirring until melted.
- In a large bowl, place the flour and salt
- Pour the water and lard mix into the flour mix and using a wooden spoon, mix to form a dough.
- Be careful as the dough will be very hot.
- Cover the bowl and leave the pastry to rest for 30 mins before rolling out on a floured board.
Recipe Notes
Hot Water Pastry is also known as Hot Water Crust and is mostly use for hand raised pies, pork pies etc.
